Who we are?

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Secretariat aims to improve the health care facilities in the region through the FATA Basic Health Programme (BHP). This programme is implemented by the Health Services department of the FATA Secretariat with the financial support of the German Government through KFW Development Bank. The purpose of this programme is the improvement of the accessibility and quality of health services in the troubled and underserved areas of FATA region.

Implementation of FATA Basic Health Programme is assigned to the following agencies, each having their own set of aims and responsibilities:

    • FATA Secretariat
    • Greenstar Social Marketing – NGO
    • Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) – NGO

 

The FATA BHP is funded by German Government through KfW Development Bank. While, overall management, disposition of funds and bridging between the programme implementing agencies is responsibility of the programme consultants: AGEG Consultants eG.

 

Implementing Agencies

FATA Secretariat

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Secretariat was set up in 2002, headed by the Secretary FATA. The KPK Governor Secretariat plays a coordinating role for interaction between the federal and provincial governments and the FATA Secretariat.

The FATA consists of 7 agencies and each agency is administered by a political agent who plays a supervisory role for development projects.

The FATA Secretariat is responsible for the overall implementation of the programme; it acts as the coordinating body between the public and private sector components.

The implementation of the component on Mobile Health Care is also under the responsibility of the FATA Secretariat.

 

Greenstar Social Marketing - NGO

Greenstar Social Marketing was established in Pakistan with the goal to increase access to health services and information, particularly among low-income women, through private sector franchise clinics. It is Pakistan's largest private sector provider of reproductive health services. Greenstar works through the private sector and with the Government of Pakistan to inform, educate and communicate women about affordable health products and services.

Greenstar is responsible towards the implementation and execution of Mother and Child Health Care component of this programme in FATA.

 

Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) - NGO

Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) is a national non-profit and non-governmental organization established and in 2002. CAMP works in FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan for improving access to quality health and education and for improving the emergency response in the region. CAMP has a long history of working and providing services in the tribal region and is considered as an icon of trust and reliability in the FATA.

CAMP is responsible towards the implementation and execution of Emergency Care component of this programme in FATA.

KfW Development Bank is regarded as one of the world’s leading agency in German development cooperation. With its decades of experience, KfW is committed to improving economic, social and ecological living conditions all around the world on behalf of the German Government.

The Basic Health Programme by KfW bank aims to empower the FATA Secretariat, which is responsible for providing health services in the troubled and politically unstable areas of FATA. Through KfW Development Bank, the German Government has given a grant of EUR 5.38 million to Pakistan with the stated to improve priority health care services in FATA. KfW ensures that the public funds used in the financial cooperation are spent as economically as possible and accordingly approves all the programme plans.

 

AGEG Consultants eG

AGEG Consultants eG is a German consulting company working all over the world towards international development. FATA Secretariat has appointed AGEG Consultants as the in-charge of this KfW-funded FATA Basic Health Programme.

AGEG has been working in Pakistan for almost a decade as the lead consultant for German cooperation programmes. Previously, AGEG has been engaged in Tuberculosis Control Programme in FATA/NWFP and Health Infrastructure in AJK, Pakistan.

AGEG Consultants are responsible for supporting FATA Secretariat and other NGOs towards the programme management, the disposition of funds and the implementation of the TB control component of the programme.
